Biotechnology Society of Nepal (BSN) at the National Policy TableThe Biotechnology Society of Nepal (BSN) is pleased to share that its President, Mr. Nabin Narayan Munankarmi, representing BSN as a member of the National Biotechnology Advisory Committee under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MoSTI), Government of Nepal, actively participated in the Committee’s inaugural meeting and raised several key national priorities for the advancement of biotechnology in Nepal.During the meeting, BSN strongly advocated for: Formulation and implementation of a comprehensive Biotechnology Act and supportive regulatory framework Effective implementation of the National Biotechnology Policy, 2083 (2026) Creation of permanent government positions (Darbandi) for Biotechnologists and Applied Life Science Scientists Expansion of biotechnology applications in agriculture, public health, food security, environment, biodiversity conservation, diagnostics, and bio-based industries Promotion of research, innovation, entrepreneurship, biosafety, and the national bioeconomy Strengthening collaboration among government agencies, universities, research institutions, professional scientific societies, industry, and development partners Capacity building and increased opportunities for young scientists, researchers, innovators, and citizen/farmer scientistsBSN believes that biotechnology can play a transformative role in achieving sustainable development, improving public health, strengthening food systems, conserving biodiversity, and building a knowledge-based economy in Nepal.As the leading professional biotechnology society in Nepal, BSN remains committed to serving as a bridge between science, policy, innovation, and society, ensuring that the voice of biotechnology professionals is represented in national decision-making processes.Science.
